It can be stressful with many options to consider, but don't worry. Here are some top tips for looking for accommodation in Swansea.
What type of accommodation?
You can either consider;
- University accommodation living on or near campus finding information on the Uni's website Accommodation - Swansea University
- Private Halls of residences around the city by searching on Google
- Private rented houses through a private Landlord or Agencies
- Rightmove - UK's number one property website for properties for sale and to rent
- SpareRoom for flatshare, house share, flat share & rooms for rent
- Individual estate agents found through google
First things first though don't sign too early! You have plenty of time.
Who to live with
Make sure you are happy with who you are going to live with that you have similar expectations and get to know them as much as possible.
Tenancy agreements
It is important to make sure you read any tenancy agreement carefully before you sign it. If you are not sure about some parts of it, don’t sign it and bring it to us in the Advice Centre to read over
Rent Smart Wales
All houses must be registered and licensed with Rent Smart Wales. Any questions or concerns please come and speak to us in the Advice Centre.
Consider your budget
Make sure you can afford your accommodation for the year, don't agree to rent you won't be able to afford. If you are struggling to pay rent come to us at the Advice Centre.
Area you want to live in
When looking at accommodation make sure you consider where you want to live and whether you will mainly be walking, driving, cycling or using public transport. This helps with knowing how close you want to be to campus or the city centre.
