A Constitution is a key governing documents that outlines how Sports Clubs and Societies should be governed. It provides the foundation for how Student Groups should operate, including information on areas such as Memberships, Elections and Democracy, and much more.
All Student Groups are required to have their own constitution. The template we provide is designed to provide a basis for groups to have their own. Student Groups can add to the Constitution we provide, however you are not able not remove or edit any of the information already existing, but instead add on top of the existing template to suit the needs of the group. Completing this ensures your group is recognised, supported, and compliant with Union policies. Student Groups are required to display the completed document on their webpage under the resources section.
What you will need to fill it out:
- Groups Name
- Aims and objectives that describe your group's purpose and goals
- Memberships: including title, type (Standard or Associate), price, and description of what the membership includes
- If you're affiliated with any external organisations: name of the organisation, website, and contact details
- Committee role titles and descriptions
- Any additional rules, roles, or practices specific to your group
- Agreement from all committee members to agree to the document
If you have any questions on this or how the Constitution fits into the wider picture of governance of Student Groups please get in contact!
Please note the constitution for the academic year 2025/26 has been reviewed. To create your constitution please complete the Student Groups' Constitution Form HERE
