This procedure covers all Student Group members including the elected Committee members, allowing for a formal disciplinary process to take place for a breach of Code of Conduct for Student Groups and their members.
Committee members and nominated Student Group activity leaders hold responsibility for ensuring the operations and actions of their members comply with the:
- Terms of the Student Groups' Constitution
- Student Groups' Code of Conduct
- All Policies, Processes, and Procedures which relate to a Student Groups’ activity (which are accessible on the Students' Union Helpdesk or from the Student Union Offices)
- Other relevant Union and University policies e.g. Health & Safety, Equality and Sustainability
Consistent breaches, or any breaches deemed serious enough by the Union will result in an individual(s) following this disciplinary procedure.
A Student Group committee could fall short of meeting their obligations if:
- An individual member (or groups of members) of their Student Group breaches the Student Groups' Code of Conduct
- The committee members (or some of the committee members) breach the terms of the Student Groups' Constitution, Student Groups' Code of Conduct and/or the relevant policies and processes relating to Student Group activity.
These Disciplinary Procedures outline the formal procedures required to deal with breaches to the aforementioned measures. However, steps can be taken prior to the formal process such as mediation. For further information please take a look at this article: Conflict resolution and Mediation.
