As a Student Group representing the Student’s Union you should always adhere to the
Student Group Media Guidelines. You are responsible for accurately conveying relevant information to your members, whether that be through Social Media or in person. Having an active Social Media presence ensures your societies’ success in recruiting more members and being more widely recognized.
How to have a Positive Social Media Presence?
- Ensure the correct socials are listed on the Student’s Union page and link them in your bio. Good practice might be to set up a Linktree to ensure all your links are easily accessible.
- Check socials regularly for queries from students or possible collaboration invitations or sponsorship deals
- Post regularly about your activities/members and socials so students know what you get up to
- You are limited only by your imagination; you could have an active TikTok presence as well as Facebook to widen your reach.
- Refrain from posting negative content, spreading hate or targeting an individual or group
- Don’t comment on what you don’t know! Check for relevant sources first or contact your SU/Societies Officer.
- Share your wins, no matter how big or small!
- High quality photos and graphics work best for engaging an audience.
- Try use different forms of multimedia; static photos, reels, add music etc.
- Get your members to share your content, to increase reach and hopefully memberships.
Society of the Month
As part of the Student’s Union you can submit an application for your Society to win Society of the Month to publicise your Society further. These will be announced on the SUSU Societies and Services Officer’s Instagram at the beginning of every new month. Each winner will receive a substantial prize from Dominoes and a special feature on the Union’s Instagram.
